- Mohamed El-Barbary is currently Professor of Pediatrics at the Faculty of
Medicine, Ain Shams University (ASU), Cairo, Egypt.
Professor El-Barbary completed his medical degree and his specialty training in
pediatrics at ASU. He then pursued further pediatric training at Nice University,
Nice, France, before returning to his alma mater, where he received his doctoral
degree in pediatrics in 1992. Professor El-Barbary remained at ASU, where he
has progressed through a number of faculty positions before assuming his
current role. - Professor El-Barbary is professionally affiliated with a number of medical
societies including the French Society of Endocrinology, Egyptian-French
Medical Society, Egyptian Society for Allergy and Immunology, Egyptian Society
for Tumor Markers, Egyptian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism, as well
as a member and treasurer of the Egyptian Society for Neonatal and Preterm
Care. - Professor El-Barbary’s expertise and leadership allow him to actively
participate in medical congresses. He has served as chairperson and speaker at
the International Pediatric Congress in China, the annual Union of Middle
Eastern & Mediterranean Pediatric Societies (UMEMPS) congresses and the
International Annual Congress for Mother and Child Health in the Caribbean
Islands. Professor El-Barbary is also a regular chairperson and speaker at annual
pediatric congresses held at different Egyptian universities.
As a well-respected member of his profession, Professor El-Barbary has served
as a supervisor and an examiner for more than 86 Master’s and Doctoral theses
at different universities across Egypt.
